Instagram With Me

  • Last week, I found out I was nominated for the “confidence” award for @girlscoutsofgreateria’s Inspiring Women of Iowa event. In that moment, I was surprised, grateful, and proud.
.
However, after riding the m-a-s-s-i-v-e ups and downs of self employment this week, I found myself questioning this nomination. As if being confident (and publicly recognized for it) means there is no room for weakness, sadness, confusion, or hiding from your phone because you can’t emotionally handle 15 people asking you what you’re doing this weekend. 😭
.
I’m constantly trying to build my resiliency and strength and confidence... by choice because these highs and lows are part of the entrepreneurial journey (at least from what I know and what others experience) and I want to rise above the crazy internal dialogues that happen. Deep down I know I get to be in control of how I think about myself, my abilities, my appearance, my presence, and everything in between.
.
It doesn’t mean it’s always easy or fun. But damn, making room for growth is such a beautiful thing we can do for ourselves and the world.

  • Des Moines, I especially love you when the sun shines and you give me good temps. ☀️
  • My travel buddy for life. ✌🏼
  • Oklahoma was full of inspiring neighborhoods, coffee shops, alleys, ramen, parks, transportation, and art. Worth the 6.5 hour drive from Des Moines to Tulsa if you ever need a weekend trip!

Friday Fives: On My Radar

We got back to Des Moines nearly two weeks ago and it’s been a full-on sprint ever since. I left many growing businesses and projects for an entire month and then added a 12-hour time difference while trying to travel and manage it all. I’m eager to share pieces of that journey beyond cool Instagram …
